National Assembly Chairman receives Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Local Council of Delegates

On July 10, at the National Assembly House, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Provincial Delegation Council Yorrys Raweyai.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Indonesia on its great development in all fields in recent times, highly appreciated the important role and positive contributions of the Provincial Council of Delegates in the Indonesian National Assembly, and believed that Indonesia will continue to develop prosperously, have an increasingly high position in the international arena, and achieve the goal of "Indonesia Gold 2045" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of independence.

Vice Chairman of the Local Council of Delegates Yorrys Raweyai thanked the National Assembly Chairman for taking the time to receive the delegation; highly appreciated the important results of General Secretary To Lam's State visit to Indonesia, especially the two countries upgrading their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; and said that this event is very meaningful in the context of the two countries preparing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Vice Chairman of the Local Council of Delegates Yorrys Raweyai congratulated and highly appreciated Vietnam for its recent arrangement of provinces and cities and building a two-level government, demonstrating Vietnam's strong determination to streamline and improve the effectiveness of the state apparatus in the spirit of serving the people.

In that spirit, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested Indonesia facilitating Vietnamese goods, especially agricultural products and Halal products, to access the Indonesian market, striving to bring bilateral trade turnover to 18 billion USD by 2028; promoting the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Fisheries Cooperation (signed in January 2024) to strengthen cooperation in the field of aquaculture, develop sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, prevent illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Vice Chairman of the Local Council of Delegates Yorrys Raweyai emphasized that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries has achieved many important achievements with two-way trade turnover in 2024 reaching 16.7 billion USD, an increase of 21.1% compared to 2023 and far exceeding 8.3 billion USD in 2020; suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in food security, green economy, circular economy, renewable energy, science and technology and sustainable development, especially sustainable waste management; hoping to learn from Vietnam's experience in building legal regulations, synchronous coordination between the Central and local governments as well as the participation of people in the process of implementing policies related to circular economy and sustainable waste management.

Regarding cooperation between the two legislative bodies, the two sides expressed their delight at the cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries in recent times with many positive developments towards depth, practicality and efficiency, both in bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

The National Assembly Chairman proposed to promote delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; strengthen cooperation, exchanges and experience sharing between the two countries' legislative bodies, especially between the National Assembly's specialized committees, groups of Friendship Parliamentarians, female parliamentarians and young parliamentarians, not only in legal and institutional issues, but also in global issues such as digital transformation, green growth, climate change response...; coordinate to effectively monitor high-level agreements, especially the development of the Action Program to implement the Vietnam - Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including the content of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
