VNA reported that on the morning of November 24, 2024, in the capital Phnom Penh, Cambodia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the opening session of the 11th Conference of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace (IPTP 11) and the plenary session of IPTP 11.
Before opening the plenary session, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the heads of delegations paid courtesy calls to President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian National Assembly Samdech Khuon Sudary, President of the 11th Session of the International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace, and Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet.
President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the Heads of Delegations attending IPTP 11 hosted by Cambodia; and welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State to the meeting.
The People's Representative Newspaper quoted Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen as saying that at IPTP 11, there will be a speech on Cambodia's development experience to enhance understanding and tolerance.
The International Parliament for Tolerance and Peace is a mechanism of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP). This is an international organization founded in 2017 by Mr. Ahmed Bin Mohamed Aljarwan, Diplomat of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), current President of GCTP with the aim of promoting a culture of peace, combating discrimination and violent extremism.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's attendance at the meeting as a guest of the host country aims to demonstrate support and goodwill towards Cambodia, especially during Cambodia's term as IPTP Chair; thereby, contributing to strengthening and developing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two National Assemblies in particular and the two countries in general.
