Vietnam News Agency reported that, within the framework of a working trip to Cambodia, on the afternoon of November 23, in Phnom Penh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Party and State met with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.
The National Assembly Chairman informed the people about the country's socio-economic situation in 2024. Accordingly, the macro-economy continues to be stable, inflation is controlled, and social security is ensured. Foreign affairs are strengthened. Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena are raised. Attention is paid to the prevention and fight against corruption, waste, and negativity, with no forbidden areas.
However, besides the basic achievements, our country still has limitations, shortcomings, and many difficulties due to its low starting point. Infrastructure investment is not yet synchronous, science and technology application is not much, and administrative procedures are still cumbersome...
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that at the ongoing 8th Session, the National Assembly will consider and decide on many important issues to promote the country's socio-economic development; including the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project, the adjustment of the investment policy for the Long Thanh International Airport Project, etc.
In particular, our country is striving to complete the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025 and competing to successfully complete the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
The subcommittees preparing for the 14th National Party Congress are also actively carrying out their work. The National Assembly and relevant agencies and organizations are preparing for the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The National Assembly Chairman also said that recently, General Secretary To Lam wrote an important article on preventing waste and reforming the organizational apparatus in the entire political system.
The Politburo has discussed and prepared to implement the streamlining of the apparatus from the central to local levels; the central level should do it first, setting an example for localities to follow, so that the apparatus is not cumbersome, reducing costs from the state budget to invest in national development.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the Party and State always recognize and appreciate the role of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, with over 100,000 people, and that the overseas Vietnamese community is also facing many difficulties.
Sharing and sympathizing with the difficulties that people are facing, the National Assembly Chairman said that at meetings with senior leaders of Cambodia, the National Assembly Chairman suggested continuing to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for people of Vietnamese origin to live and work stably and legally in Cambodia; having a roadmap to relocate people living on the river in a reasonable manner, arranging resettlement areas with basic infrastructure and social security conditions, supporting career conversion for households that must be relocated and asking the Cambodian side to continue to pay attention to removing obstacles in handling documents to speed up the naturalization of those who are eligible.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man hopes that the Vietnamese community in Cambodia will always promote the spirit of solidarity and mutual support; comply with local laws and regulations, and strive for self-reliance.
The National Assembly Chairman commended the Ambassador and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia for their efforts in fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Party and State, contributing to consolidating and developing the relationship of “good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability” between Vietnam and Cambodia.
