The session was chaired by Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives and President of AIPA 46 Tan Sri Dato' Johari Bin Abdul, with the participation of heads of delegations of AIPA member countries/Parliaments and AIPA Secretary General.
This is the first important activity within the framework of the 46th AIPA General Assembly to review and agree on the agenda, the discussion content of the Committees, the list of draft resolutions and other important contents to be discussed and approved at the conference.
Speaking at the meeting, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated Malaysia's preparation work; affirmed that the Vietnamese delegation supports and cooperates closely with the Malaysian National Assembly and AIPA member National Assemblies/Parliaments, actively contributing to the overall success of the 46th AIPA General Assembly, contributing to promoting inclusive and sustainable development in the region.
The National Assembly Chairman also highly appreciated the support of the National Assembly/Parliament of member countries for the draft resolutions proposed by Vietnam and submitted to the 46th AIPA General Assembly for approval to promote cooperation in priority areas such as the digital economy and digital transformation, cyber security, enhancing intra-bloc trade, improving the effectiveness of cooperation with partners... promoting the role of parliamentary diplomacy in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Also on September 17, local time, on the occasion of attending the 46th AIPA General Assembly and an official visit to Malaysia, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man visited and worked with leaders of the National Oil and Gas Group of Malaysia at Petronas Twin Tower, a famous twin tower, a symbol of Malaysia's development.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man acknowledged and highly appreciated Petronas' positive contributions over the years to Vietnam's energy security as well as the overall development of Vietnam - Malaysia relations.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that Petronas will continue to cooperate with Vietnam in accordance with the needs and capabilities of both sides in the short and long term, contributing to ensuring a stable and long-term gas supply; promoting cooperation in green energy, renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, in line with the net zero emission commitment of both countries.
The National Assembly Chairman also suggested that Petronas continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group to effectively implement the committed contents, ensuring progress, safety, and compliance with Vietnam and Malaysia laws, specifically evaluate new generation energy projects put into commercial operation in 2025; support training programs, technology transfer and human resource development, so that each cooperation project not only brings economic value but also fosters friendship and builds sustainable cooperation for the future.
