At noon on September 9 (local time), Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and the high-level Vietnamese delegation arrived at Chinggis Khan airport, Ulaanbaatar capital, beginning an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Mongolian Parliament Speaker Sandag Byambatsogt and his wife from September 9 - 11, 2026, according to VNA.
Welcoming the delegation at the airport, on the Mongolian side were: Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam Ganbaatar Hulan; Chairman of the Mongolia - Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group J. Bayarmaa; representatives of the National Assembly Office, Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the Vietnamese side were: Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia Nguyen Tuan Thanh and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Mongolia.

Vietnam and Mongolia have had traditional friendly relations from a very early age, and the two sides regularly help and support each other. In recent years, the relationship between the two countries has made substantial and comprehensive developments in many fields. The two sides established a Comprehensive Partnership on the occasion of the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Mongolia in October-October 2024.
In politics, Party-to-Party channel relations are strengthened; political and diplomatic trust of heads of state is consolidated; delegation exchanges, high-level contacts, at all levels and localities are maintained. National defense, security, judicial and law enforcement cooperation are becoming an important pillar in relations with many new and substantial bright spots. Economic, trade and investment cooperation are increasingly improved through agreements, commitments and cooperation projects.
The mechanism of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic - Trade, Science - Technology Cooperation is being implemented regularly. Bilateral trade turnover continues to increase, reaching 155 million USD in 2025 and nearly 60 million USD in the first 6 months of 2026.
Cooperation in other fields such as culture, tourism, education, agriculture, local cooperation and people-to-people exchanges continues to be expanded. Mongolian leaders affirmed that Vietnam is considered a top important partner in Southeast Asia.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man is the first guest of new National Assembly Chairman Sandag Byambatsogt since taking office. This is the first official visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man to Mongolia and the visit of the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Mongolia after 23 years since 2003.
The visit aims to promote substantive cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, contributing to strengthening cooperation in defense, security, economy, especially science and technology and new areas of cooperation, commensurate with the content of the Vietnam - Mongolia Comprehensive Partnership.
