National Assembly Chairman and First Lady successfully conclude official visit to South Korea

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, left Seoul, successfully concluding their official visit to South Korea.

On the morning of September 9 (local time), Politburo Member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, left Seoul capital, successfully concluding their official visit to South Korea, heading on an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Mongolian National Assembly Chairman Sandag Byambatsogt and his wife, according to VNA.

Seeing off the delegation at Seongnam Airport (Seoul capital) were Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Korean National Assembly Office Na A Jeong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Korea Vu Ho and officials and staff of the Embassy.

Within the framework of his official visit to South Korea, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Prime Minister Han Seong Sook and held talks with National Assembly Chairman Cho Jeong Sik.

At the meetings, leaders of the two countries positively assessed the development of Vietnam-Korea relations, especially the maintenance of regular delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level; affirming that Vietnam and Korea have become top important partners of each other in economy, trade and investment.

Regarding the direction of cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed to implement a strategic vision on economic linkages in the new context, bringing practical benefits to both sides, thereby striving to bring bilateral trade turnover to 100 billion USD in 2026 and towards 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable direction.

The two sides also agreed to continue to promote scientific and technological cooperation to become a driving force for the development of relations between the two countries; expand cooperation in human resource training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges; continue to pay attention to and improve policies to protect the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese community in Korea and the Korean community in Vietnam.

Highly appreciating the results of cooperation between the National Assembly of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Korea in the past time, the leaders of the two countries agreed to maintain regular exchanges of high-level and all-level leadership delegations; strengthen sharing experiences in building laws and institutions to serve sustainable development; actively promote exchanges and exchanges between specialized committees in direct and online forms in the coming time; effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the National Assemblies of the two countries signed in November 2025.

The two sides agreed to promote the role of the legislative body in coordinating the supervision of the implementation of international treaties and cooperation agreements of the government; improve policies and laws, create a favorable legal environment for businesses and people of the two countries; continue to coordinate and support each other at regional and world interparliamentary forums.

In Seoul, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Chairman of the Accompanying Democratic Party Kim Min Seok, Chairman of the National Power Party Jang Dong Hyeok, Chairman of the Korea-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group Moon Jin Seok.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with members of the Innovation Network and Vietnamese experts in Korea; met with Korean friends; received leaders of some large Korean corporations investing in Vietnam and met with officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Korea.

With practical activities, the official visit to Korea by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife was a great success, contributing to bringing Vietnam-Korea cooperation relations to a new height, practical, effective and long-term sustainable; and at the same time strengthening and expanding parliamentary cooperation commensurate with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bringing practical benefits to people and businesses of the two countries.
