On April 11, at the first quarter press conference, the leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee clarified a number of issues related to the merger of Da Nang and Quang Nam province, especially the location of the administrative center after the merger.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee, chaired the meeting, said that both localities have established a steering committee to merge under the direction of the Politburo. However, Ms. Thi emphasized that there is no official information or document on the name of the new administrative unit and the location of the administrative center.
"Everything is waiting for the results of the Party Central Committee Conference and the decision of the Politburo. When there is official information, the city will notify the press agencies, Ms. Thi affirmed.
Mr. Le Phu Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Da Nang City, said that merging provinces and cities is an important policy of the Party and State, which is being focused on by the entire Party, people and army. Although the policy is clear, there is still no final conclusion on the name and location of the administrative center after the merger.
Mr. Nguyen added that the merger involves the entire system of state apparatus organizations, requiring many preparations. The two localities have assigned specific tasks and are coordinating to develop a merger project to submit to the Central Government in May. This morning, the Departments of Home Affairs of the two localities held an online meeting to discuss the assignment and coordination of this task.
