Foundation and important conditions for Vietnam to enter the era of development
This morning (November 15), at the National Scientific Conference "New Era, the Era of Rising of the Vietnamese Nation - Theoretical and Practical Issues", Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Phuc - Vice Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Central Party Agencies, former Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine - delivered a speech on "Vietnam's foundation, potential, position and international prestige entering a new era, the era of rising of the Vietnamese nation".
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Phuc, after nearly 40 years of renovation, Vietnam's foundation, potential, position and international reputation have been increasingly enhanced.
After nearly 40 years of innovation, the socialist-oriented market economy has developed strongly, the economic level has been raised higher, the economic scale in 2023 will reach 430 billion USD, ranking 35th in the world, and 5th in ASEAN.
GDP per capita reached nearly 4,300 USD, nearly 58 times higher after three decades, the poverty rate decreased from 58% (according to the old standard) in 1993 to 2.93% (according to the multidimensional poverty standard with higher criteria than before) in 2023.
The macro economy is basically stable, inflation is under control, major balances of the economy are ensured, maintaining a relatively high economic growth compared to the region and the world. Labor productivity has continuously increased, increasing by 6.05% in the 2016 - 2020 period and 8.94% in the 2021 - 2023 period. Growth relies more on science - technology and innovation.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Van Phuc, the results achieved after nearly 40 years of renovation are the foundation and important conditions for Vietnam to realize its strategic vision, enter a new era, an era of national growth, build a peaceful, independent, democratic, prosperous, civilized, happy Vietnam, and steadily move towards socialism.
Maximize the role of creation and comprehensive promotion of all fields
At the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hai Binh - Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine - discussed the content of modern and effective national governance in the era of national development.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Le Hai Binh, the fourth industrial revolution, with the strong development of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), big data and cloud computing, has been and is profoundly changing the way of national governance and production and business activities.
For Vietnam, this change brings both opportunities and challenges, as the country must not only improve governance efficiency but also seize opportunities to accelerate development, avoiding the risk of falling behind other countries in the region and the world.
In this context, the aspiration for development becomes the driving force for the whole society, aiming to turn Vietnam into a high-income country, a prosperous society and on par with the world powers.
"General Secretary To Lam has affirmed the milestone of Vietnam entering a new era - the era of national development. To realize this aspiration, the national governance system must maximize its role in creating and comprehensively promoting all fields, while maintaining stability and consensus in society," said Associate Professor, Dr. Le Hai Binh.
