6 months of detecting nearly 68,000 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods
On July 7, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc - Head of the National Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit Goods chaired the National Online Conference to summarize the work in the first 6 months of the year and orientations and tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
According to the Standing Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry of Public Security has directed the local police to fight and handle many cases related to intellectual property rights (IP) infringement, counterfeit goods, and fake goods.
The US highly appreciates our proactiveness and initiative in the fight to prevent infringement of IP rights. If we do this well, before drawing conclusions, the US will properly assess our commitments, determination and regular and continuous direction in the work of fighting to protect IP rights," the Government leader said.

The report of the Steering Committee shows that in the first 6 months of the year, units and localities have detected, arrested, and handled 67,937 violations.
In which, 5,220 cases of illegal trading and transportation of prohibited goods and smuggled goods; 56,994 cases of trade fraud and tax evasion; 5,723 cases of counterfeit goods and violations of IP rights.
The total amount collected and contributed to the state budget reached 9,647.747 billion VND. Functional forces have prosecuted 1,676 cases, 2,789 subjects.
In key areas such as Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Tay Ninh, An Giang..., subjects continue to take advantage of trails, open paths, border residents' activities, customs channelization policies, and disguised transport vehicles to smuggle and transport illegal goods into the inland.
The emerging method is to divide goods into smaller portions, gather them at border warehouses and then transport them deep into the inland in many stages to cut off the monitoring process of functional forces; taking advantage of goods transit activities to transport goods infringing on IP rights from abroad into Vietnam to third countries with many types of goods.
Some lines use contract transport vehicles, inter-provincial passenger cars, and logistics transshipment vehicles to transport smuggled goods at high speed, ready to resist when detected.
The subject frequently changed contact methods, used closed groups on Telegram, Zalo, WeChat to operate transportation activities; hired guards along national highways, and arranged people to monitor the activities of functional forces.
Mixing fake and banned goods in containers of legal goods
Sea routes and seaports have seen the emergence of smuggling, trading, and illegal transportation of drugs, firecrackers, explosives, foreign cigarettes, granulated sugar, alcohol, gasoline, oil, coal, used goods of foreign origin, frozen food... in sea areas and seaports of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City, Ca Mau, and An Giang.
Common tricks are falsely declaring the name of goods, code of goods, origin; declaring low value to evade taxes; mixing fake goods and prohibited goods in containers of legal goods.
Smuggling of gold, foreign currency, counterfeit branded goods, electronic components, drugs and prohibited goods continues to be complicated on air routes.
Subjects take advantage of Facebook, TikTok, Shopee, Telegram, livestream sales to consume smuggled goods, counterfeit goods, and goods infringing on IP on a very large scale.
Many subjects do not open fixed stores but rent apartments and people's houses as warehouses; transact entirely on cyberspace; use non-genuine bank accounts; hire technology shippers as intermediaries for transportation.
