On January 9, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son chaired a national online conference to summarize the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2025, directions and tasks for 2026.
According to reports, units and localities have detected, arrested, and handled 123,513 violations, down 10% compared to 2024, including 9,404 cases of illegal trading and transportation of prohibited goods and smuggled goods (down 15.67%); 109,180 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud (down 9.30%); 4,929 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property rights violations (down 13.78%).
Total revenue paid to the state budget reached 15,394,667 million VND, an increase of 4.44%.
Functional forces have prosecuted 3,178 criminal cases, an increase of 2.75%, with 5,477 subjects, an increase of 17.58%.

Concluding the conference, besides the achieved results, the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out the shortcomings and limitations that need to be focused on overcoming, such as sanctions for violations that are not enough to deter; the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit and poor quality goods still goes deep into the domestic market, increasing in the e-commerce environment.
The number of violations detected and handled has not reflected the reality, and has not best met the requirements of the task. There is still a situation of officials laxly managing and covering up violations.
The situation of smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods has not been detected and handled promptly, causing budget revenue loss, causing anxiety and insecurity, affecting the investment, business and international integration environment of Vietnam.
Regarding tasks in the coming time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested ministries, branches, and localities to identify the work of combating smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods as key and top priority tasks, long-term, regular and continuous.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested to strengthen professional work, inspection and control, focusing on border routes, border gates, seaports, aviation, areas, and goods prone to violations such as e-commerce, medicines, milk, functional foods...
Functional forces must continuously and regularly, without interruption, deploy to promptly detect, prevent, arrest, and resolutely and strictly handle violators with the motto "handling one case, warning the whole region, the whole field".
The inspection must ensure the principle that each area and field is mainly responsible for one agency; at the same time, proactively exchange and share information, coordinate with forces, units, and localities to promptly detect and strictly handle violations, focusing on hitting the target, hitting the mastermind and ringleader.
Government leaders requested that in the first 6 months of 2026, ministries and sectors must focus on reviewing, amending, and perfecting the system of standards and regulations for goods under their management, especially food, pharmaceuticals, and goods affecting human health and the environment.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested to strictly handle officials and civil servants who have acts of irresponsibility in leadership, direction, management, aiding and abetting violations; summarize and propose timely rewards for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements...
Ministries, branches, and localities need to promote the application of science, technology, and digital transformation in management and supervision; promote the role of hotlines and channels to receive information from people and businesses.
