Cuba is ready to deepen substantive cooperation with Vietnam in various fields

Cuba is ready to work with Vietnam to further deepen substantive cooperation in various fields, especially agriculture and biotechnology.

On May 20, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes.

At the reception, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung respectfully sent greetings to Cuban Revolutionary Leader, General Raúl Castro, First Secretary, President Miguel Díaz-Canel, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero and Cuban leaders; thanked key Cuban leaders for their letters and messages congratulating the results of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the results of the 16th National Assembly election recently; affirmed that in his new position, he will continue to contribute to constantly expanding and improving the effectiveness of the special friendship cooperation relationship, commensurate with the potential, level of relations and political trust between the two countries.

Expressing his honor to meet Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes conveyed the best wishes of the leaders of the Party, State and Government of Cuba to Prime Minister Le Minh Hung.

The Ambassador happily shared with the Prime Minister the positive steps in the relations between the two countries in the past time, especially the exchange of delegations at all levels being maintained regularly, notably the State visit to Cuba by General Secretary and President To Lam (September 2024) and the State visit to Vietnam by First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel (September 2025) on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 of Vietnam; cooperation in fields such as agriculture, justice, biotechnology continues to be promoted; cooperation projects in rice cultivation, aquaculture, and food production in Cuba have achieved many practical results.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung affirmed that the Party, Government and people of Vietnam always remember and cherish the solidarity, sincere, pure, and faithful support that the Party, Government and people of Cuba have given to Vietnam in the cause of national liberation in the past as well as in the cause of building and developing the country today.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister wishes the two sides to continue to consolidate and further strengthen the special relationship between Vietnam and Cuba.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister requested the two sides to closely coordinate in implementing the agreements agreed upon by the senior leaders of the two countries; promote delegation exchanges at all levels and sustainable cooperation; closely coordinate in organizing activities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leader Fidel Castro, a great friend of the Vietnamese people (August 13, 1926 - August 13, 2026); improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms between the two Governments and between ministries, branches and localities; continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums.

Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes affirmed that Cuba always considers Vietnam as a brother, a close comrade and a model in the cause of renovation and national development; affirmed that Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements in recent years are the inspiration of the Cuban people; wished the two sides to continue to cooperate and share experiences, especially lessons learned in the 40-year process of implementing Vietnam's Doi Moi policy; ready to work with Vietnam to effectively implement high-level agreements, further deepen substantive cooperation in areas where the two sides have strengths and needs, especially agriculture and biotechnology.
