Vietnam will continue to share renewable energy development experiences with Cuba to serve the production and lives of Cuban people.

On the afternoon of February 2nd, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Special Envoy of the Communist Party of Cuba, State of the Republic of Cuba, Politburo Member, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.

At the reception, exchanging views on future cooperation directions, the two sides expressed their pleasure at the positive development of the two countries' relations in various fields.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Cuban Special Envoy agreed that economic and trade cooperation needs to have stronger changes, commensurate with the reliable political relationship and the potential and strengths of each side.

In a frank, substantive and effective spirit, the two sides focused on discussing and agreeing on specific measures to promote cooperation in key areas in the new context.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam will continue to share experiences about the 40-year Doi Moi (Renovation) process and economic integration with Cuba; requested the two sides to continue to effectively implement cooperation projects to develop on-site food production in the new period and affirmed that it will create conditions for Vietnamese businesses to share experiences and transfer advanced farming processes, supply raw materials and support agricultural machinery, helping Cuba gradually become self-sufficient in on-site food.

The two sides determined that the development of solar energy is suitable for Cuba's urgent needs. The Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam will continue to share renewable energy development experiences with Cuba to serve the production and life of Cuban people.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated Cuba's leading strength in the world in medicine and requested the Cuban Government to strengthen cooperation, technology transfer, and joint ventures to produce vaccines, medical biological products and new generation specialized drugs to supply to the two countries' markets and for export.

To realize the above contents, the Prime Minister requested the two sides to maximize the role of the Vietnam - Cuba Intergovernmental Committee mechanism and ministerial and sectoral cooperation mechanisms; regularly review and urge the implementation of high-level agreements; promptly handle arising issues to bring practical economic efficiency to both countries in the spirit of "coming together for development".

The Cuban Special Envoy respectfully thanked the Prime Minister for the development orientations of the relationship and the deep and specific directions; affirmed that he would fully report to the senior leaders of the Party and Government of Cuba and closely coordinate with relevant ministries and sectors of Vietnam to implement the agreed contents.

Sharing the difficulties that the brotherly Cuban people are facing due to sieges, embargoes and natural disasters, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam is committed to always accompanying, sharing and supporting Cuba within its capabilities, expressing confidence that the heroic Cuba will overcome all challenges and continue to achieve new victories in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
