13 communes and wards have 3 Vice Chairmen of People's Committees including: Muong Lay, Muong Thanh, Dien Bien Phu, Thanh Nua, Na Sang, Na Son, Na Hy, Muong Nhe, Chieng Sinh, Muong Ang, Tuan Giao, Tua Chua, Muong Cha.
The remaining 32 communes have 2 Vice Chairmen of the People's Committees.
Currently, Dien Bien province has 45 commune-level administrative units, including 42 communes and 3 wards. Among them, Sin Thau commune has the largest natural area with 516.42 km2, while Muong Thanh ward has the smallest area with 27.56 km2.
