On August 29, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
Attending were Mr. Le Quoc Phong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Thap Province; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hai Tram; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Chau Thi My Phuong; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province Phan Van Thang with leaders and former leaders of the Central and the province through the ages; Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces.
Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong reviewed the contributions of revolutionary predecessors, headed by the great President Ho Chi Minh, who led the August Uprising in 1945, which dismantled the domination of centuries of colonialism and feudal rule, and reclaimed power in the hands of the people. On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - the first agricultural state of Southeast Asia, bringing the country into a new era, an era of national independence associated with socialism.
In Dong Thap province, responding to the call for a General Uprising of the Party Central Committee and President Ho Chi Minh, under the direct leadership of the Nam Ky Party Committee, My Tho Provincial Party Committee and Sa Dec Provincial Party Committee, the people of the province unanimously rose up and won power in the last days of August 1945 .
On July 1, 2025, the new Dong Thap province was established, with 102 communes and wards. The 2-level local government model has only been in operation for nearly 2 months but has had many efforts and attempts. Up to now, it has basically ensured smooth operation, meeting the needs of people and business operations.
In addition to quickly stabilizing the government apparatus at all levels, the organization of the Commune-level Party Congresses, aiming for the first Provincial Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030 to ensure compliance with requirements.
To date, 100% of Party organizations under the Provincial Party Committee have completed the Congress. With the steadfast pursuit of the development goal of "Comprehensive - focus - connection - breakthrough and sustainable development", taking people as the center, culture as the spiritual foundation and innovation as the driving force, Dong Thap and the whole country enter a new era - the era of national growth.
On the occasion of today's meaningful event, Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee Le Quoc Phong called on all people of the new Dong Thap, no matter where they are, to always show affection, care, share, and participate in the development journey of their homeland.
At the meeting, representatives of veteran cadres, revolutionary veterans, armed forces and representatives of the youth of Dong Thap province shared and reviewed the memories; at the same time, they expressed their determination and efforts to continue the tradition, contributing to the development of their homeland Dong Thap.
