Con Dao achieves many achievements in the 2020-2025 term
On August 8, the Con Dao Special Forces Party Committee (HCMC) held the 1st Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term with the theme "Strengthening the building and rectifying of the Party and the comprehensively clean and strong political system; ensuring national defense and security; improving the quality of life and happiness of the people; sustainable economic development associated with cultural, historical, spiritual and marine ecotourism of regional and international scale".
The congress was attended by Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, along with the working delegation, former leaders of the special zone through the periods and official delegates representing party members in the Con Dao special zone.
According to the report at the congress, in the 2020-2025 term, Con Dao has achieved and exceeded most of the targets, despite being heavily affected by the COVID-19 epidemic; investment resources are still limited...
The locality has implemented key infrastructure projects such as: powering with 110kV underground cables from the mainland; expanding Ben Dam port.... At the same time, strongly developing tourism, diversifying cultural, historical, spiritual, marine ecological products...
Although there are still limitations such as electricity, water, and transportation infrastructure that have not met demand at times; the tourism economy has not yet exploited its full potential; it is still difficult to attract strategic investors; and the treatment of backlogged waste is not yet complete... However, the Congress aims to build Con Dao special area into a regional and international high-class tourism area by 2030; sustainable development associated with nature, culture, and history conservation; solid national defense and security; quality of life and people's happiness are improved.
In particular, many tasks are set out such as: GRDP growth of over 8.4%/year; average income per capita increase by 29.75% compared to 2025; 100% of the population uses clean water; 100% of household and medical waste is treated; the rate of households classifying waste at source will reach 100% by 2030...
In the 2025-2030 term, Con Dao focuses on three breakthroughs including: Completing wastewater and waste treatment infrastructure and developing green transportation; Developing high-quality eco-tourism; Promoting administrative reform associated with digital transformation, building smart islands.
Striving to turn Con Dao into a green island, a livable place
Speaking at the congress, Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee and People of Con Dao special zone in improving life, building Con Dao into a place with a high happiness index, green and beautiful.
"Ivory needs to clearly define its own identity, considering it the foundation for development strategies. Preserving and promoting identity towards the goal of becoming a green, smart and livable island, developing modernly in harmony with heritage conservation", Mr. Duoc emphasized.
To do that, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc suggested that Con Dao focus on calling for international-class investors, expanding airports, seaports and connecting transportation on the island; developing eco-tourism, high-end resorts; investing in environmental protection, waste and wastewater treatment to meet standards, and effectively exploiting renewable energy sources.
At the same time, it is necessary to maintain national defense and security, promote strategic position, build a national defense posture associated with the people's security posture. The locality also focuses on strengthening the building of the Party and the political system.
