On the afternoon of December 9, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Propaganda Department and Cao Bang province to hold a press conference to introduce the National Scientific Conference to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
Colonel Nguyen The Manh - Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) - said that with the theme "Vietnam People's Army - Heroic tradition, glorious career, core force in building a strong national defense", the conference will take place on the morning of December 14 at the Ministry of National Defense Hall, Hanoi.
According to Colonel, Dr. Le Thanh Bai - Deputy Director of the Institute of Military History - Standing Agency of the Workshop Steering Committee, the Workshop aims to affirm and further clarify the Party's correct and creative guidelines and policies on building the Vietnam People's Army, building the all-people national defense, building the all-people national defense posture associated with the people's security posture, firmly protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
Through the Workshop, clarify the process of building, fighting, and growing; heroic traditions, good qualities, and important and decisive factors that create the strength of the Vietnam People's Army in the cause of fighting for national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland.
The workshop is also an opportunity to affirm the role, stature and historical significance of the birth of the Vietnam People's Army and the National Defense Day; to draw on experiences and historical lessons to continue to apply in building a strong, compact and modern Vietnam People's Army, building a strong national defense posture, closely linked with a comprehensive people's security posture, firmly protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.
At the workshop, the presentations will focus on clarifying the historical context, leadership and direction of the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission in the process of building, fighting, maturing and glorious victory of the Vietnam People's Army...
At the same time, the discussions will deepen the issues of principles and laws in the process of building, fighting and maturing of the Vietnam People's Army in particular and the people's armed forces in general; the achievements and role of the National Defense Day; of promoting the "people's heart position", the strength of great national unity in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Based on the theme, the Institute of Military History has developed a system of papers to serve the Conference. To date, the Organizing Committee has received 117 out of a total of 119 papers.
The workshop is expected to be attended by leaders of the Party, State, and National Assembly; representatives of central departments, ministries, branches, and organizations; heads and former heads of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the General Department of Politics; leaders of a number of localities; leaders and commanders of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security, along with scientists and historical witnesses.
