On December 8, in Hanoi, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting with retired senior military officers in the Northern region to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024). General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense - chaired the meeting.
Attending the meeting were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh - former Secretary of the Central Military Commission; former Chairmen of the National Assembly: Nguyen Van An, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Party leaders, former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, and the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
At the meeting, General Phan Van Giang provided delegates with general information on the current situation in the world, region and the country; plots, tricks and sabotage activities of hostile forces; outstanding results in military and defense work, Party building of the Army in 2024; and key directions and tasks in 2025.
General Phan Van Giang emphasized that the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense always respect, express gratitude and deep gratitude to the leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, generals and senior military officers of all periods, who have made great contributions to the cause of building all-people national defense, building a mature and strong Vietnam People's Army, contributing to building and firmly protecting the Fatherland.
General Phan Van Giang hopes that the leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, generals and senior officers of the Army through the periods will always encourage, motivate and stand side by side with the Central Military Commission, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, Party committees and commanders of agencies and units in the entire army to strive to excellently fulfill all tasks entrusted by the Party, State and people; creating the premise and strength together with the entire Party and people to firmly protect the Fatherland, bringing the country firmly into the era of national development.
In addition, Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang also respectfully requested retired and retired senior military officers, with their mettle, intelligence, experience, responsibility, and dedication, to always preserve and spread the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers in life to live happily, healthily, and happily with their families, clans, hometowns, and places of residence.
