Director of Hanoi National University elected to the 14th Central Committee of the Party

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was elected to the 14th Central Committee of the Party.

On the evening of January 22, the 14th National Party Congress announced the list of 200 members of the 14th Central Executive Committee, including 180 official members and 20 alternate members.

According to the announced list, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, was elected to the 14th Central Committee of the Party.

He received a doctorate in Automation Engineering from the Technical University of Dresden, Germany in 1998.

After graduating with a doctorate, he worked as a lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology from 2000, and was recognized as a Associate Professor in 2006.

He has held positions at Hanoi University of Science and Technology: Head of Training Department (2008); Vice Rector (2014); Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector (2015); Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the School Council (August 2020).

In October 2020, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son was appointed by the Prime Minister to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Education and Training.

In September 2025, he was transferred and appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the Council, Director of Hanoi National University.

With the role of a multidisciplinary research university, the core of the Vietnamese higher education system, Hanoi National University is always a pioneering unit, affirming political determination and leadership responsibility in implementing major resolutions of the Party, contributing to training high-quality human resources, promoting science, technology and innovation to serve national development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son has made important contributions to promoting higher education innovation, improving the quality of training and university governance. With his rich experience from the role of lecturer, and management positions at the department, school and ministerial levels, he has brought innovative thinking, strategic vision and modern approach in management and development of higher education.

With a long history of experience in education management and outstanding imprints during his time working at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education and Training, he is expected to continue to bring Hanoi National University to strong development, affirming its position as the core training and research center of Vietnam and standing shoulder to shoulder with leading educational institutions in the world.
