Hanoi to build 9 more bridges over the Red River

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee said that the city is focusing resources on investing in the construction of 9 more bridges over the Red River, and has decided to invest in 3 bridges.

On the morning of January 8, at the Conference of the Government and local authorities, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that the city has completed 23/24 targets of the 2024 socio-economic development plan; growth reached 6.52% (in 2023 it was 6.27%).

GRDP scale reaches nearly 59 billion USD, GRDP per capita reaches nearly 6,500 USD. Budget revenue reaches 509.3 trillion VND (exceeding 500 trillion VND for the first time), an increase of nearly 23.8% compared to 2023.

Many works and projects of the city have been inaugurated and started to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital.

The city is focusing resources on investing in building 9 more bridges over the Red River (currently there are 9 bridges); has approved investment projects to build 3 bridges (Hong Ha, Me So, Van Phuc); and is focusing on directing to decide on investment policies for 3 bridges (Tu Lien bridge, Tran Hung Dao bridge and Ngoc Hoi bridge).

In addition, Hanoi is resolutely implementing measures to deal with environmental pollution in a thorough, practical and comprehensive manner; launching the movement "Bright, green, clean and beautiful capital", with a new approach, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system and all classes of people in the capital.

Social security work is ensured; the fields of culture, education and health care are given attention; the activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital have left many emotions in the hearts of the people and international friends. The quality of education and training continues to be maintained.

Administrative reform and digital transformation associated with Project 06 are identified as breakthroughs. The city has many ways to follow the direction of the Central Steering Committee and has successfully piloted them, creating momentum for effective implementation in the health, education, and justice sectors.

Hanoi is also the first locality in the country to establish a "Steering Committee on implementing measures to prevent and combat waste", making waste prevention and combat a regular and continuous task to remove difficulties and promote social investment resources.

National defense and security work in the city has been strengthened, and foreign affairs activities have been expanded.

According to the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, 2025 is a very important year for Hanoi city.

Based on the conclusions of the working sessions of the Party and State leaders, Hanoi has concretized them into implementation plans. In 2025, Hanoi has identified 325 tasks and plans.

Mr. Tran Sy Thanh emphasized that the Party Committee, government and people of the capital will focus on directing solutions to accelerate and make breakthroughs to achieve the highest development goals, with the spirit that Hanoi is ready to promote its mettle and intelligence to join the country in entering the "New Era - The Era of National Growth".
