Dr. Lawyer Do Ngoc Thinh - President of the Vietnam Bar Federation emphasized this at the 80th Anniversary of the Vietnam Lawyers' Traditional Day (October 10, 1945 - October 10, 2025) held on the evening of October 9.
Lawyer Do Ngoc Thinh stated that understanding the law, protecting and upholding the law is the sacred mission that the Party, State and people have assigned to the Vietnamese legal team - those who have an important position and role in building a rule of law state, implementing the Party's judicial reform policy, contributing significantly to maintaining fairness, clarifying the truth, and creating people's trust in justice.
From having only a few dozen lawyers at the beginning of the August Revolution, to September 30, 2025, the whole country had 21,084 lawyers, more than 6,000 legal practice organizations, operating in 34 Lawyers after the merger, present in all legal fields, from litigation, consulting, policy criticism, participating in teaching, research, law development and dissemination and international integration.
During 80 years of formation and development, especially in nearly 40 years of renovation, the Vietnamese legal team has made great, comprehensive and profound contributions in all aspects of legal life and society.
"Those contributions are not only reflected in the number of legal cases involved, but also affirmed in their increasingly open and courageous role in protecting justice, protecting the legitimate rights and interests of organizations, individuals and the state. The legal team always accompanies the development of the country" - Lawyer Do Ngoc Thinh shared.
He also outlined the orientation and key tasks from 2025 to 2030 for the Bar Associations and the entire legal team.
From the practical activities of the legal team nationwide and the urgent requirements set forth in the current era of integration, digital transformation, and comprehensive judicial reform, the Vietnam Bar Federation recommends to the Party and the State a number of important contents.
First, continue to improve the legal institution on the organization and operation of legal practice, design a lawyer management model on the principle of ensuring the management role of the State and improving the self-management capacity of social organizations - the legal profession, ensuring compliance with the requirements of the socialist rule of law State and international practices
Second, strengthen the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels in developing the legal profession in conjunction with the requirements of building a socialist rule-of-law state and developing the country's socio-economy.
Third, promote training and fostering of lawyers to integrate internationally.
Fourth, create conditions for lawyers to participate more deeply in activities of law making and enforcement organization, social criticism, policy consulting, and judicial reform.
Next is to ensure respect and full exercise of the legal right to practice lawyers according to the Constitution, law and legal principles.
