According to the announcement of the Minister of Home Affairs, civil servants and public employees are entitled to 2 days off according to regulations during the National Day holiday, including September 2nd and 1 day immediately before, September 1st.
The whole country also implemented switching from the second working day, August 31, to the weekly holiday, Saturday, August 22.
Thus, along with weekly holidays and holidays, officials and civil servants will have 5 consecutive days off on the occasion of National Day 2026.
For workers in the business sector, on National Day holiday, they will be off on Wednesday, September 2, and choose to be off for 1 of 2 days: Tuesday, September 1, or Thursday, September 3.
The Minister of Home Affairs shall notify administrative agencies, non-business units, political organizations, socio-political organizations and businesses, and employees according to regulations.
Agencies and units arrange and arrange on-duty departments according to regulations and work reasonably to solve work continuously, ensuring service to the people.
Businesses must notify employees of the 2026 National Day holiday plan at least 30 days before implementation.
If the weekly holiday coincides with the holiday and Tet holiday specified in Clause 1, Article 112 of the Labor Code, the employer shall arrange for compensatory weekly holiday for the employee on the next working day according to the provisions of Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also encourages employers to apply the 2026 National Day holiday for employees as a plan for civil servants and public employees, and at the same time encourages more beneficial agreements for employees.
