On the morning of April 3, the Ministry of Home Affairs held a press conference to inform about the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026 and information about the labor accident situation in 2025.
Mr. Vu Trong Binh - Director of the Department of Employment (Ministry of Home Affairs) - said that the holidays of 2026 are allowed by the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs announced them in October 2025.
The process of implementing holidays according to the Labor Code has been consulted with ministries, departments, central agencies and trade unions at all levels. Up to today, the Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs have agreed that there is no new policy regarding the notice of holidays in 2026" - Mr. Vu Trong Binh emphasized.
According to the holiday schedule announcement to officials and civil servants, the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival is off for 1 day (March 10th of the lunar calendar). This year, March 10th of the lunar calendar falls on Sunday, April 26th. Due to coinciding with the weekend holiday, employees are off for compensation on Monday (April 27th).
Thus, the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday can last 3 consecutive days, from Saturday, April 25, to the end of Monday, April 27.
The holidays commemorating the Liberation of the South, national reunification April 30 and International Labor Day May 1 fall on Thursdays and Fridays. For workers who do not have to work Saturdays, the holiday lasts 4 consecutive days, from April 30 to the end of May 3 (including both weekend days).
A noteworthy point is that these two holidays are quite close. Workers have just finished the Hung Kings Commemoration holiday, went back to work for 2 days and then had another holiday on April 30.
