On the morning of January 21, the APF Executive Board Meeting and the Francophone Parliamentary Cooperation Forum on sustainable agriculture, food security and climate change response, hosted by the Vietnamese National Assembly, will open in Can Tho City.
At the opening session, it is expected that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man - President/Vice President of APF, and General Director of the International Organization of Francophonie Caroline St Hilaire will give speeches.
The Francophone Parliamentary Cooperation Forum on Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security and Climate Change Response will include three discussion sessions on: Cooperation between Francophone countries in the field of sustainable agriculture; Food security in the Francophone Community; Sharing experiences and international cooperation in responding to climate change.
APF is an inter-parliamentary organization that brings together 91 parliaments/legislatures of French-speaking countries and territories, established in May 1967. APF represents the will and aspirations of the peoples of the Francophone Community, alongside the executive institutions. It is the consultative parliamentary body of the Francophone Community.
The objectives of APF are to spread the French language, promote democracy, the rule of law and human rights; exchange and discuss issues of interest, especially international political issues, and forward appropriate recommendations and proposals to the competent authorities of the Francophone Community; promote cooperation and solidarity within the Francophone Community towards sustainable development; strengthen international cooperation of parliamentarians, contribute to the development and mutual understanding of culture, and support the development of education and training in French worldwide.
The APF Executive Board Conference and the Francophone Parliamentary Cooperation Forum are scheduled to take place from January 21 to 24, 2025, in Can Tho City.
