At noon on March 29, in Hanoi, Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva attended the Vietnam - Brazil Economic Forum.
According to the Government Newspaper, speaking at the forum, Brazilian President Lula da Silva emphasized that he visited Vietnam not only as President of Brazil but as a close friend of Vietnam; was happy to witness the remarkable development of Vietnam between the two visits; said that Vietnam is a model for many countries to learn from.
Thanking Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for announcing the permission to import beef from Brazil, President Lula da Silva said that Brazil will invest in beef processing plants to penetrate Vietnam to penetrate the ASEAN market; on the contrary, Brazil is ready to act as a gateway for Vietnamese goods to enter the Mercosur bloc.
Introducing the potential for cooperation that Brazil has strengths, the Brazilian President suggested that businesses of the two countries, especially private enterprises, connect with each other, promote investment cooperation activities, realize them, and deepen the Vietnam - Brazil Strategic Partnership; suggested that the two sides study the establishment of joint funds to promote investment, develop science and technology, create favorable conditions and trust for businesses of the two countries to cooperate and invest.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully thanked the President of Brazil for bringing warm affection to Vietnam from Brazilian friends and the President personally; especially Brazil and more than 70 other countries have recognized the market economy regulations with Vietnam.
According to the Prime Minister, the Vietnam - Brazil relationship has so far converged on 5 major similarities and supplements. That is, having similar and trusting ideals; having a culture of identity, especially patriotism, respecting friends, loyalties, and development towards people; having a mutually supportive and promoting economy, the strengths of one country being the needs of another; having warm and sincere feelings; sharing the aspiration to fight poverty, build a strong, prosperous, civilized country, aspiration for peace, cooperation, development, and strong growth, bringing happiness and prosperity to the people.
The Prime Minister gave an example, in areas where both sides have strengths, they can cooperate with each other, such as researching the establishment of coffee trading floors. Brazil also has a mineral strength while Vietnam is in strong need of developing the metal processing industry. During this visit, Vietnam opened the beef market to Brazil and Brazil to invest immediately in the spirit of " say what you do, commit to do it".
According to the Prime Minister, there are currently many Brazilian players competing in Vietnam, some of whom are naturalized Brazilian players who have made an important contribution to bringing Vietnam to the third Southeast Asian championship.
"The sincere, warm feelings that we have for each other can be clearly felt. Cooperation between the two sides is unlimited, unhindered, and in all fields, cooperation can be between the two sides" - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said.
The Prime Minister proposed promoting projects in the fields of green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy; science and technology, innovation, digital transformation; energy conversion, renewable energy; minerals; agriculture, high-tech industry...; focusing on "strengthening supply chains, developing supporting industries, building a highly skilled workforce".
The Prime Minister suggested that Brazilian investors continue to support and create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to participate more deeply and substantially in global supply chains.
Vietnam hopes that Brazilian enterprises will support Vietnam in accessing shifting investment sources, green, sustainable financial sources and investment sources for science and technology, innovation, and development of international and regional financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
