Nhon Trach 3 Power Plant and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant (NT3&NT4) invested by the Vietnam National Industry - Energy Group (Petrovietnam) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation (PV Power) are built in Ong Keo Industrial Park, Dai Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai Province. The Lilama - Samsung C&T consortium will take on the role of EPC general contractor for the project.

This is the first gas project cluster in Vietnam to use imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel, which is a pioneer in the energy transition roadmap, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and realizing Vietnam's net zero emissions commitment by 2050.
With a total investment of about 1.4 billion USD, NT3&NT4 Power Plant is the first project in Petrovietnam's LNG (PV Gas) to Power (PV Power) chain, aiming to form a modern LNG power center, improve power supply capacity and ensure national energy security in the context of continued high electricity demand.
The plant cluster has a total capacity of 1,624 MW, expected to provide more than 9 billion kWh of electricity per year when operating stably. This is a large-capacity base power source, playing an important role for the national power system, especially in the Southern region; at the same time, it is highly flexible, supporting the regulation and balancing of the system as the proportion of renewable energy is increasing.

The project is invested according to modern technology standards, using GE's 9HA.02 generation gas turbine (USA), achieving an efficiency of 62-64%, among the highest at present. This technology meets strict emission standards, allowing flexible fuel conversion from LNG to the ability to combine hydrogen, aiming to use 100% of hydrogen in the future.
During the construction process, the project mobilized more than 3,200 officers, engineers, workers of the investor, general contractors and contractors to participate in the construction. The workload is large with tens of thousands of tons of equipment, steel and concrete structures installed, recording about 10 million working hours.

The operation of the NT3&NT4 Power Plant not only adds a high-performance power source to the system but also affirms the core role of Petrovietnam and PV Power in ensuring energy security, sustainable development and linking economic growth with environmental protection.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised, acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts and determination of Petrovietnam, PV Power, ministries, branches, localities and domestic and foreign contractors in putting Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plants into operation, ensuring progress, quality, and no violations. The Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the people in the project area for giving up land, relocating houses, and resettling to serve the project implementation.
According to the Prime Minister, the success of the project is not only meaningful in terms of economy and technology but also creates momentum, motivation and is an important lesson to continue implementing energy projects in the coming time.
The Prime Minister emphasized that in the context of many difficulties and challenges, project participants need to promote the spirit of solidarity, unity, dynamism, creativity, daring to think, daring to do, daring to make breakthroughs for the interests of the nation and people. The implementation process must closely follow reality, take practice as a measure, apply scientific thinking and methodology, ensure timely, flexible and efficient work handling.
In addition, it is necessary to strengthen close coordination between levels and sectors, focus on removing institutional barriers, cutting unnecessary administrative procedures; promptly reward, encourage collectives and individuals with achievements and strictly handle violations, attach importance to overcoming consequences.
The Prime Minister also noted the harmonious combination of internal and external resources, in which internal resources are the decisive and long-term factor; external resources such as capital, science and technology, and management experience play an important and breakthrough role. The organization must be drastic, clearly assigned in the spirit of "6 clear": clear people, clear work, clear authority, clear responsibility, clear time, clear results.
The Prime Minister suggested that Petrovietnam continue to affirm its role as a leading national energy group, a fulcrum in ensuring energy security; promoting digital transformation, green growth, energy transition; strengthening coordination in the national power system, applying science and technology, artificial intelligence to operate stably, effectively, fully complying with regulations on settlement and auditing.
The success of the Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 Power Plant projects is considered a model to continue implementing key national energy infrastructure projects with higher scale, technology and standards in the coming time. The Government affirmed to continue to accompany, remove difficulties, and create favorable conditions for entities to maximize their capacity and successfully complete assigned tasks.
Considered a pioneering project cluster of Vietnam's LNG power, the NT3 & NT4 Power Plant plays a special role in the national energy transition process, with many highlights:
As the first project using LNG fuel in Vietnam, opening Petrovietnam's LNG (PV Gas) - Power (PV Power) chain.
It is the thermal power project with the largest capacity in Vietnam (1,624 MW), with the largest single plant complex (812 MW).
Applying the world's leading modern equipment and technology, using GE's 9HA.02 gas turbine, high-performance, capable of burning with hydrogen.
The highest power generation efficiency in Vietnam today (over 62%).
It is the first single- axle project in Vietnam, with the configuration of a gas turbine - an air turbine - a co- axle connecting power source.
The value estimate implemented by domestic contractors is the highest to date.
It is the first LNG power project in Vietnam to arrange capital without government guarantees, with a loan of nearly 1 billion USD.
With the lowest investment rate among LNG power projects in Vietnam to date.
