At the inauguration ceremony of the National Exhibition Center - the central bridge in the groundbreaking ceremony, inauguration of 250 works and projects at 80 bridges to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) held today (August 19), Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh shared: "In the period of 2021 - 2025, investment in infrastructure construction has been of special interest to the Party and State and identified as one of the strategic breakthroughs to promote socio-economic development, enhance security and defense.
Ministries, branches and localities have been given attention, direction and assigned many important tasks by the National Assembly and the Government, including industrial projects, energy projects, key transport projects such as highways, airports, seaports, urban railways, high-speed railways, etc.
The Minister said that with the efforts of ministries, branches, localities and enterprises, today across the country, we held an inauguration ceremony and started construction of 250 projects in 34 provinces/cities; of which 161 projects were started; inaugurated 89 projects with VND 1,280,000 billion in e-commerce, of which State capital was 129 projects with VND 478,000 billion, accounting for 37% and 121 other capital projects with VND 802,000 billion, accounting for 63% (including 05 FDI projects with VND 54,000 billion).
The Minister emphasized that these are all important projects of strategic significance; not only the result of efforts and joining hands to overcome difficulties, but also a symbol of the aspiration for development and the will to rise up of the entire nation. This is also a vivid testament to the country's achievements in infrastructure development, demonstrating the determination of our Party, State and people in building a strong, civilized and modern Vietnam.
According to the Minister, some typical, key projects that play the role of "paving the way" are worth noting, such as:
Regarding expressways, from the beginning of 2025 to now, we have completed 455km, bringing the total length of expressways put into operation to about 2,476km; it is expected that from now until the end of the year, we will strive to complete about 700km more, aiming for the goal of 3,000km by the end of 2025 and 5,000km by 2030...
Regarding maritime and inland waterways, many key projects have been implemented such as: Cai Mep - Thi Vai port, Lach Huyen, Hau Song channel, Cho Gao canal, investment promotion of Can Gio port, Nam Do Son... contributing to logistics development, reducing costs...
Regarding railways, two urban railway projects Cat Linh - Ha Dong, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien and the Nhon - Kim Ma section have been put into operation, gradually modernizing the urban area...
Regarding civil construction works, the National Exhibition Center was inaugurated to reach the top 10 in the world, a project with a super-school, super-weight structure, construction time of just over 10 months invested by Vingroup, along with many other typical projects such as: Nghe An Oncology Hospital, Saigon International Financial Center...
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang - Vice Chairman and General Director of Vingroup Corporation - said: "The National Exhibition Center is the largest exhibition center complex in Southeast Asia and is in the Top 10 largest exhibition complexes in the world. The project was completed after nearly 10 months of rapid construction, an unprecedented record in the field of building large-scale exhibition complexes in the world".
Mr. Quang added that right after the inauguration ceremony, this place will be the focus of the National Achievement Exhibition with the theme "80 years of independence - freedom - Happiness". Along with that, a series of large-scale cultural and artistic events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day will take place here.
