Lang Son urgently responds to floods, many areas are deeply flooded

Lang Son - On October 8, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc and the Government working delegation inspected the response and overcoming the consequences of floods.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, heavy rain that has lasted for many days has injured 2 people, and affected more than 3,000 households due to house collapse, landslides, and flooding. The communes of Yen Binh, Van Nham, Huu Lung, Tuan Son, Cai Kinh, That Khe, Trang Dinh, Quoc Viet... are areas that are deeply flooded, cutting off traffic.

The whole province had more than 1,000 hectares of crops flooded, 80 hectares of fruit trees and 4 hectares of forest broken; 9 educational institutions damaged; 153 traffic points were flooded, with a total volume of landslides of more than 20,000 m3. Many bridges, culverts, and roads were cut off; some communes had power outages and interrupted communication.

Notably, the Bac Khe 1 hydropower dam in Tan Tien commune, Trang Dinh district was partially broken, threatening the downstream area.

Speaking at the inspection, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc highly appreciated the proactive spirit of the Lang Son government and functional forces in responding to and overcoming the consequences of storm No. 11, and requested localities not to be subjective when the floodwaters have not yet receded.

"We must put people's safety first, continue to evacuate people from dangerous areas, ensure enough food, medicine, and necessities. After the water recedes, it is necessary to urgently restore infrastructure, production and daily life, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that the Government will provide temporary funding for the province to urgently overcome the consequences of floods, and at the same time consider allocating long-term resources to enhance disaster prevention capacity.

During the working program, the working group visited and presented gifts to people severely affected in Huu Lung district, shared difficulties and encouraged people to soon stabilize their lives.

Consecutive storms No. 8, 9.10 (Bualoi) and floods caused by the storm have killed, left missing, and injured 165 people; many houses and production and business establishments have had their roofs blown off and suffered heavy damage.
