Attending the first session - Lao Cai Provincial People's Council of the XVII term on the afternoon of March 27 were leaders of the National Assembly Deputies Affairs Committee and the Local Affairs Department I (Central Organization Committee).
With high confidence (100% of delegates present), Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, term 2026-2031.
5 people were elected to hold the position of Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, term 2026-2031, including: Mr. Giang Quoc Hung; Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc; Mr. Phan Trung Ba; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh and Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee for the 2026-2031 term expressed his respect and deep gratitude to the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Council, voters and people for trusting him to be elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. At the same time, he affirmed that this is both a great honor and a heavy responsibility to the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Lao Cai province.
Emphasizing the opportunities and challenges in the new term, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh clearly stated his determination to work with the leadership of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee to focus on effectively implementing key goals and tasks.
In which, striving to achieve double-digit economic growth; state budget revenue in the area reaching 32,000 billion VND by 2030; mobilizing and effectively using resources, strongly improving the investment and business environment.
At the same time, the province will focus on developing 4 economic pillars including: Deep processing industry, green industry, environmentally friendly; ecological agriculture, unique goods, high value; making tourism truly become a spearhead economic sector, upgrading Sa Pa National Tourist Area, Thac Ba Lake to international level; making Y Ty, Bac Ha, Mu Cang Chai destinations of national level; breakthrough in border gate economy, building Kim Thanh - Ban Vuoc smart border gate, making Lao Cai a major logistics center of the region.
Along with that, promote digital transformation, develop a green economy, protect the environment; put people at the center of the development process, improve the quality of life, reduce poverty sustainably, and preserve the cultural identity of ethnic groups; Strive to bring the People's Happiness Index to 72% by 2030.
