On the afternoon of March 27, the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council held its first meeting, electing key leadership positions of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee for the 2026-2031 term.
At the meeting, Mr. Vu Quynh Khanh - Standing Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council, reported on the results of the election of delegates to the Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term and reported on the results of confirming the status of delegates to the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031.
The conference proceeded to elect the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and the Vice Chairmen of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council of the XVII term, term 2026 - 2031.
As a result, with 100% confidence votes, Mr. Hoang Giang, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Council, term XVII, 2026-2031.
The three Vice Chairmen of the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031, are respectively Mr. Vu Quynh Khanh - Standing Vice Chairman, Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Binh and Mr. Ly Binh Minh.
The conference also approved the draft Resolution on the establishment of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee of the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031 and elected the Heads of Committees of the 17th Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031.
Also at the Session, the Provincial People's Council proceeded to elect the positions of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and elect members of the Provincial People's Committee, term 2026-2031.
As a result, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, term 2020-2025, was continued to be elected to hold the position of Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, term 2026-2031.
Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee including Mr. Phan Trung Ba, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh and Mr. Ngo Hanh Phuc continued to be re-elected for the 2026-2031 term.
In particular, Mr. Giang Quoc Hung - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Internal Affairs Commission was elected to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, term 2026-2031.
