According to the report of the Lao Cai Provincial Election Commission, the preparation for the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in the area has been seriously implemented, in accordance with the law, ensuring progress according to the set plan.
Political security and social order and safety were maintained, no complicated issues arose, and there were no complaints or denunciations under their authority.
On election day March 15, voters in 2,029 polling stations throughout Lao Cai province participated in voting. The voter turnout rate reached 99.998%, Lao Cai is 1 of the 2 provinces and cities with the highest voter turnout rate in the country.
As a result of the election, voters in Lao Cai province elected all 10 National Assembly deputies out of a total of 18 candidates. The elected deputy structure ensures representativeness, with the proportion of female deputies, re-elected deputies and ethnic minority deputies reaching 50% or more.
For provincial People's Council delegates, voters selected 61 delegates out of a total of 105 candidates. At the commune level, 2,106 People's Council delegates were elected from 3,539 candidates, ensuring the structure and composition according to regulations.
Speaking to direct at the conference, Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary Duong Quoc Huy requested all levels and sectors, especially the heads of Party committees, authorities, agencies, and units, to immediately start the work of the new term, not to let delays occur in task implementation, not to leave gaps in leadership, management, and administration; quickly shift to an action state with a spirit of decisiveness, efficiency, and substance.
In the immediate future, the People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and communes and wards urgently prepare carefully the conditions for organizing the first session of the People's Council to be completed before March 30 to consolidate the organizational structure and leadership titles of the government according to the law.
After consolidation, People's Councils and People's Committees at all levels urgently complete working regulations, clearly assign tasks, focus on organizing the implementation of tasks according to the law, focusing on building appropriate mechanisms and policies to serve socio-economic development management to meet the requirements of the double-digit growth target.
On this occasion, 50 collectives and 96 individuals with outstanding achievements in the election of NA deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee.
