On April 17, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received Ms. Amina Mohammed - Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations on the occasion of her visit to Vietnam to attend the 4th Summit on Partnership for Green Growth and Global Goals (P4G) in Hanoi.
The President emphasized that this is the first multilateral summit in the field of green growth, green transformation and sustainable development hosted by Vietnam and highly appreciated the participation of Ms. Amina Mohammed, thereby affirming the United Nations' commitment to promoting green growth, responding to global challenges as well as to the Vietnam - United Nations cooperation relationship.
Happy to share great development achievements, with the historical significance of the country since winning peace and unity, the President thanked the valuable support that the United Nations has always been for Vietnam from the period of reconstruction after the war to the renovation and international integration.
Affirming strong support for multilateralism with the United Nations playing a central role, the President stated that Vietnam is steadfast in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification; is an active and responsible member of the international community in solving global issues.
Sharing the vision of national development in the new period, the President suggested that the United Nations continue to support Vietnam in a number of priority areas, including the implementation of sustainable development goals, building a rule of law state, digital transformation, green transformation, responding to climate change and global challenges.
Amina Mohammed thanked the President for taking the time, expressing his impression on the development achievements of Vietnam over the past time and happy to affirm the Vietnam - United Nations cooperation relationship has developed well and extensively for nearly five decades. The United Nations highly appreciated Vietnam's role and contribution to the United Nations activities and the desire to share Vietnam's success experience on development with the United Nations partners.
The Deputy Secretary -General shared a number of UN activities that were promoting the implementation with Vietnam, including the implementation of the results of the future summit (New York, September 2024), preparing for the World Summit on the 2nd Social Development, the 30th Conference of the parties participating in the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), the 4th International Conference on Finance for Finance for Development for Finance for Development for Finance for Development for Finance for Development for Financial Development for Development for Financial Development.
On this occasion, the two sides discussed the world and regional situation, challenges facing multilateralism and agreed to strengthen cooperation, jointly promote multilateral cooperation and the role of the United Nations in global governance, preserve and promote the United Nations' principles and founding values since its establishment in 1945.
The two sides also discussed issues that orient Vietnam - United Nations relations in the coming time, including green growth, sustainable development, innovation, digital transformation as well as increasing the participation of young people and women in these processes.
