On August 5, in Hanoi, General Secretary and President To Lam received Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Tan Yang Thai to say goodbye at the end of his term of office.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated and congratulated Ambassador Tan Yang Thai on successfully completing his mission in Vietnam; wished Ambassador Tan Yang Thai to continue to achieve success in his new position, contributing to Malaysia's diplomacy as well as the strong development of Vietnam-Malaysia relations.

General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that Malaysia has an important position in Vietnam's foreign policy; affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always value cooperative relations with Malaysia; wishing to constantly nurture and deepen the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries, with a more comprehensive and broader scale and content both bilaterally and multilaterally.

General Secretary and President To Lam said that in the coming time, the two countries need to continue to consolidate political trust, promote delegation exchanges, high-level and all-level contacts; effectively implement high-level agreements; strengthen defense, security, and maritime cooperation; encourage and create more favorable conditions for economic, trade and investment cooperation in a balanced direction; promote the fields of digital economy, green economy, science and technology, innovation...

Ambassador Tan Yang Thai expressed his pleasure to witness the strong development steps of Vietnam in recent years; affirmed that he will always remember beautiful memories of the country and people of Vietnam; and wished that the relationship between the two countries would continue to develop even stronger in the coming time.

The Ambassador expressed his belief that Vietnam and Malaysia will make an important contribution to promoting ASEAN solidarity and development; resolving disputes by peaceful means and international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) in the context of the world and regional situation with many complex fluctuations as it is today.

Ambassador Tan Yang Thai affirmed that Malaysia always values cooperative relations with Vietnam and wishes to promote the relationship between the two countries to develop more strongly, especially in fields such as digital economy, green economy, and renewable energy. Ambassador Tan Yang Thai respectfully conveyed the words of the King of Malaysia inviting General Secretary and President To Lam to visit Malaysia soon.

Ambassador Tan Yang Thai affirmed that, with his work experience and special feelings for Vietnam, he will continue to strive to nurture the increasingly developing relationship between the two countries.
