Encourage workers to overcome difficulties
On January 15, Party Central Committee member and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong visited, encouraged and wished a happy New Year to union members and workers in difficult circumstances in Kon Tum province.
Also accompanying the delegation were Mr. Y Thanh Ha Nie Kdam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; Mr. Phan Van Anh - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Mr. A Thoa (40 years old) - a guard at Dak Uy special-use forest, Dak Ha district - was happy and excited to receive a gift of encouragement and affection from the leaders of the Party, State and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
According to Mr. Thoa, for the past 4 years, he has been mainly working in the deep mountains to guard the primeval forests. Life is hard and deprived, often having to live in a sacred forest, with poisonous water, no electricity, roads, schools, etc.
According to Mr. Thoa, his house is in Dak Ang commune, Ngoc Hoi district. His wife works on the farm and has two young children. The whole family is poor, mainly depending on his meager security guard salary all year round.
“Near Tet, security guards have to patrol 24/7 because loggers often take advantage of loopholes to destroy the forest. Security teams of 30 people work in shifts during Tet. For many years, we had to eat and sleep in the forest, unable to celebrate Tet with our families,” said A Thoa.
Mr. A Thoa is one of 200 union members and workers in Kon Tum province who received gifts to fuel their spirit and working will from the leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam General Confederation of Labor today (January 15).
Many other workers who are sick, have serious illnesses, or have occupational accidents are also on the list of those receiving attention, encouragement, and care from trade unions at all levels.
Care and concern for workers' lives
Speaking at the ceremony, Party Central Committee member and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong highly appreciated the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people of Kon Tum province in socio-economic development and improving the lives of workers.
In 2024, Kon Tum will have the highest growth rate in the Central Highlands region and rank 24th in the country. The disbursement rate of public investment capital is high, cultural preservation and tourism economic development far exceed the set target with 2.3 million visitors.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong was impressed by the fact that in some places in Kon Tum, mountainous people voluntarily wrote applications to escape poverty, demonstrating the people's spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance.
The provincial government also promotes investment in infrastructure, industrial parks, industrial clusters and approves investment policies for key projects. This will attract labor to participate in production and create stable jobs.
Over the years, the Party and State have always paid attention to the lives of workers, focusing on building a safe, fair and sustainable working environment. The Trade Union Law, the Labor Code, etc. have contributed to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong requested the provincial Trade Union and the Kon Tum provincial government to continue their efforts to build and monitor fair production relations, monitor salary regimes, health insurance, social insurance, working environment, and care for workers' lives...
The relevant authorities must focus on promoting the digital economy, green economy, and improving the professional qualifications of workers. Thereby, workers can create products with high added value. From there, they can promote and improve the income and salary of workers.
