On the morning of June 30, at the Ceremony to announce the establishment of the new Lam Dong province, the Resolutions and decisions of the Central Government on merging administrative units of the three provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Binh Thuan into the new Lam Dong province and personnel work were announced.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh - Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government gave a speech directing and emphasizing that the merger of the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, Dak Nong into Lam Dong province will help effectively exploit the potential of high-tech agriculture, processing industry, renewable energy, eco-tourism, along with unique coastal cities and plateau. Open up a space for a linked, multi-centered economy, comprehensive, harmonious and sustainable development. This is also an opportunity to re-planning production areas, developing inter-regional transport infrastructure systems, forming new value chains and improving people's lives.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh also sent further messages to the commune-level authorities and emphasized the goal of "close to the people, close to the people, serving the people". The realization of the Party's guidelines and policies depends on the team of cadres at the grassroots level, making the policy available to the people, so that they can understand and mobilize people to implement that policy.
Lam Dong province (new) has 124 commune-level administrative units, including 103 communes, 20 wards and 1 special area of Phu Quy; population of more than 3.8 million people. The total natural area of Lam Dong province after the merger is about 24,233.07 km2, becoming the province with the largest area in the country after the merger. The new Lam Dong provincial political and administrative center is located in the modern city of Da Lat in Lam Dong province.
With a new mindset, high sense of responsibility and the consensus of cadres and people, the new Lam Dong province will become a solid support, contributing to promoting sustainable and comprehensive development for a land with great potential, connecting the plateau with the coast, connecting the mountains and forests with the green sea and white sand.
