On the afternoon of June 29, Nghe An Provincial Police held a ceremony to announce the decisions of the Minister of Public Security and the Director of the Provincial Police on the arrangement of the apparatus and work of commune-level police officers according to the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee. The ceremony was held directly at the Provincial Police and online connecting to the district-level Police bridges.
The ceremony was attended by Comrade Bui Thanh An - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Colonel Tran Hong Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, and representatives of the leaders of the agencies: People's Court, People's Procuracy, Military Command, Provincial Border Guard Command.
According to the decision, from July 1, 2025, Nghe An will have 130 commune-level administrative units (11 wards, 119 communes). Correspondingly, 130 Commune Police units were established.
The Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the leaders of the Provincial Police have mobilized and appointed 130 comrades to hold the positions of Chief and Deputy Chief of the Commune Police in charge of the unit after the merger; and arranged 3,240 commune-level police officers. On the same occasion, 6 department-level leaders were announced their decision to retire pending retirement benefits.
Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Tran Hong Quang acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility and solidarity of the leaders, officers and soldiers of the entire force in the process of implementing the reorganization of the organization and apparatus. He emphasized that perfecting the model of the two-level local police in the direction of "comprehensive province, strong commune, and adherence to the grassroots" is an important task, posing many new requirements for the police force at all levels.
Colonel Tran Hong Quang requested the Commune Police Chief to quickly hand over and receive tasks between units after the merger; urgently grasp the area, ensure no work interruption, and avoid any passive or surprising situations. The officers and soldiers need to proactively improve their professional qualifications, adapt to new tasks, and be determined to successfully complete the annual work targets and the task of protecting the security and safety of Party Congresses at all levels.
