In addition to the central government's 2 Tet gift levels, many localities also give additional gifts to people with meritorious services

HƯƠNG NHA |

In addition to the 2 Tet gift levels of the Central Government, many localities have proactively issued their own policies to better care for people with meritorious services to the revolution.

On the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the President decided to give gifts to people with meritorious services to the revolution at 2 levels, 600,000 VND and 300,000 VND each, depending on the group of beneficiaries.

This is a gift level applied uniformly nationwide, implemented annually to show the State's gratitude to people with meritorious services.

In addition to Tet gifts from the President, many localities use local budgets to give additional gifts or cash support to people with meritorious services, policy families, and relatives of martyrs. The level of support, scope of beneficiaries, and form of payment are decided by each locality, based on budget balancing capacity and actual situation.

Along with that, pension and social insurance allowance beneficiaries nationwide continue to receive combined pension and allowance payments for 2 months (February and March) in the February period, in order to create conditions for more financial resources to serve Tet spending. This payment is not a Tet gift, but an important source of money for many elderly people.

Previously, some localities had issued guidelines on giving gifts to people with meritorious services to the revolution, such as:

In Ca Mau province:

Ca Mau Department of Home Affairs has issued guidelines on giving gifts to people with meritorious services to the revolution on the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, ensuring compliance with the Party's guidelines and the State's regulations and completing before February 10, 2026.

Accordingly, Tet gifts include two sources: Gifts from the President from the central budget and additional gifts from the province from the local budget.

Ca Mau province also gives an additional 500,000 VND/person to all subjects who have received gifts from the President. For some specific policy subjects of the province but not eligible for gifts from the President, they are supported at a level of 600,000 VND/person.

In Hanoi:

With the goal of comprehensively caring for people's lives, especially people with meritorious services to the revolution, the City has issued Plan No. 341/KH-UBND on giving gifts to policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services; people receiving pensions, monthly unemployment benefits, social pension benefits; poor households; near-poor households; social protection beneficiaries; elderly people; workers and employees in particularly difficult circumstances; female former youth volunteers in difficult circumstances; visiting and giving gifts to typical organizations and individuals, units implementing policies on the occasion of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026.

It is expected that the city will present more than 1.16 million gifts with a total budget of over 574.4 billion VND from the budgets at all levels and legal mobilized sources. People's Committees of communes, wards and units are proactively mobilized more socialized resources to support subjects suitable to actual conditions.

In Ho Chi Minh City:

The City People's Committee has issued a plan to organize activities and allocate funds to care for Binh Ngo Tet in 2026. The city organizes Tet gifts for policy beneficiaries with meritorious services, people enjoying social insurance benefits, poor households, people with prestige among ethnic minorities and social protection beneficiaries managed by communes, wards, and special zones.

Ho Chi Minh City spends Tet gifts for 210,008 gifts belonging to 12 groups of policy beneficiaries with meritorious services, with gifts ranging from 1 million VND to 10 million VND/gift. Among them, the highest level is 10 million VND/gift for 72 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who are receiving monthly preferential allowances...
