On the morning of August 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnamese Foreign Service (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) and received the First Class Labor Medal.
General Secretary To Lam attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.
On this occasion, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong; Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent congratulatory flower baskets.
Speaking at the event, General Secretary To Lam shared that, born and raised with the country, going through 80 years of the heroic history of the nation, the class of cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers working in foreign affairs and diplomacy with their tireless efforts and silent sacrifices have contributed to writing a great heroic song for the whole nation.
"In that glorious historical journey, Vietnamese foreign affairs and diplomacy have the right to be proud of their worthy contributions" - the General Secretary emphasized.
According to the General Secretary, Vietnamese diplomacy is facing a historic mission. That is to maintain a peaceful and stable environment, creating favorable conditions for the successful implementation of the country's major breakthroughs, especially the two 100-year goals, contributing to bringing the country into an era of prosperous development.
The General Secretary suggested that the Foreign Affairs sector thoroughly grasp and focus on implementing 5 major orientations, including building a comprehensive, modern, professional diplomacy imbued with Vietnamese identity; Enhancing Vietnam's contribution to world politics, the global economy, human civilization, for peace, cooperation, development in the region and the world...
"Today, standing in the international community with a new position, we have the right to be proud that Vietnamese diplomacy not only serves the Fatherland and the people, but also contributes to lighting up the belief in a world of peace, cooperation and development" - General Secretary To Lam emphasized.
According to the General Secretary, in the next 20 years, Vietnam must strive to become a developed country with high income, a powerful, prosperous and happy country. That is the command of intelligence, of the heart, the great aspiration to " play the role of the five continents" of Uncle Ho and the entire Vietnamese nation.
"I firmly believe that Vietnamese diplomacy - with the courage, intelligence, spirit and methods of the Vietnamese people - will continue to be the pioneer, the core force in its glorious responsibilities, creating and maintaining a peaceful, stable environment, pioneering in connecting, cooperating, opening up and attracting development resources, constantly enhancing the country's position" - the General Secretary emphasized.
