Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung has just signed report No. 187/BC-BTTT to send to National Assembly deputies the results of implementing a number of resolutions on the field of information and communications.
Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that the rapid development of technology while management has not kept up with the development has made cyberspace, especially social networks, a fertile ground for many illegal acts.
The Ministry of Information and Communications stated that users' awareness is still limited, many people think that social networks are anonymous, so they are irresponsible when participating in social networks. Many people with virtual, anonymous nicknames think they can speak freely without fear of being discovered or handled by anyone.
Along with that, the system of legal documents regulating the provision and use of information on the Internet, especially regulating the provision of cross-border services, still has many shortcomings and has not kept up with the development of practice.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, the resources, both in terms of human resources, means, and tools, of the team performing the task of managing the provision and use of information in cyberspace are still limited in quantity and do not meet the requirements in the development of digital technology.
"The technical system and monitoring and scanning tools to detect information violating Vietnamese law in cyberspace in general and on cross-border social networking platforms have not met work requirements," the report of the Ministry of Information and Communications stated.
In the coming time, the Ministry of Information and Communications will step up propaganda to raise awareness among people, and no longer think that social networks are anonymous and therefore irresponsible.
The Ministry also strengthens the detection and handling of information violations; deploys technical systems, and proactively reviews and promptly detects sources of information violations.
Step up the fight, request cross-border platforms to block and remove channels, fanpages, and groups with absurd, sensational content that goes against public morals, and tighten the management of those who make money making video clips.
The Ministry of Information and Communications will coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement measures to limit the appearance of images and performing arts products of people working in the performing arts field in the press and social media (especially on Facebook, YouTube, TikTok) when there are violations of the law or violations of the code of conduct in cyberspace.
This measure aims to avoid negative impacts on young people and helps prevent the production of nonsense and offensive content.
The authorities also develop plans and implement campaigns to orient and encourage people working in the field of culture and arts who are famous online and have great influence on today's youth to encourage them to produce, create and spread valuable content that is suitable for Vietnamese culture, contributing to "using beauty to eliminate ugliness", promoting healthy development for the online environment.
