On the morning of September 16, Thai King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroic Martyrs on Bac Son Street (Hanoi).
The King of Thailand and the Queen are on a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife.
Since officially establishing diplomatic relations in 1976, this is the first time the King and Queen of Thailand have made a state visit to Vietnam.
For King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida, this is also the first time the two have visited Vietnam as King and Queen of Thailand. The visit takes place in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1976 - 2026).
On the same day, the King of Thailand and the Queen visited Quan Su Pagoda and attended the Peace Prayer Ceremony.
After the King and Queen performed the ceremony of offering candles and flowers, monks and Buddhists chanted sutras to pray for peace for the King and Queen; praying for the Vietnam - Thailand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to develop more and more well on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This ceremony expresses the spirit of enlightenment of Vietnamese Buddhism, affirming the commitment of both countries to jointly build a world of peace, cooperation and prosperity.
