On the morning of September 15, at the National Assembly House (Hanoi), General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife chaired the official welcoming ceremony for King of the Kingdom of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen on a state visit to Vietnam from September 14-16, 2026.
Also attending the welcoming ceremony on the Vietnamese side were Politburo members: Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Committee; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Members of the Party Central Committee: Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Hai Ninh; Director of the Presidential Office Le Khanh Hai; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense. Along with comrades: To An Xo, Assistant to the General Secretary, President, Head of the General Secretary Office; Pham Viet Hung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Thailand.
Ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN countries in Vietnam attended the Welcoming Ceremony.
When the convoy carrying the King of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Queen entered the National Assembly House, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife were present at the red carpet warmly welcoming the King of Thailand and the Queen.
Children in the Capital proceeded to present a bouquet of fresh flowers to the King of Thailand and the Queen.
In the sound of welcoming military music, the King of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Queen, along with General Secretary, President To Lam and his wife, proceeded to the podium of honor. The two leaders stepped onto the podium of honor together.

The military band successively delivered the Thai National Anthem and the Vietnamese National Anthem, and at the same time 21 rounds of cannons were fired from Thang Long Imperial Citadel to welcome the King of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Queen on a state visit to Vietnam.
After the National Anthem, the Head of the Honorary Team of the Vietnam People's Army proceeded to report and invited the honorary team to review. Next, General Secretary and President To Lam and the King of the Kingdom of Thailand successively introduced the composition of the high-level delegations of the two countries to attend the Welcoming Ceremony.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the two leaders led the high-level delegation of the two countries to hold talks.
Vietnam and Thailand are two countries in Southeast Asia, with long-standing friendly relations. Since the two countries officially established diplomatic relations in 1976, the cooperative relationship between the two countries has developed rapidly in both breadth and depth.
The two countries maintain good relations and high political trust between the leaders and people of the two countries. This is a solid and important foundation contributing to promoting increasingly deep and reliable relations between the two sides at all levels, across all channels: State, Government, National Assembly, businesses, localities and people-to-people exchanges.
The State visit of the King of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Queen to Vietnam is of particular importance, a new historical milestone in the good friendly cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Thailand in the past 50 years.
