Proposal to keep officials on the spot when merging Quang Ngai - Kon Tum
On April 15, in Kon Plong district (Kon Tum), the Standing Committee of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee had a meeting with the Standing Committee of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee to implement a number of contents related to the merger of the provincial administrative unit under the direction of the Central Government. This is the first meeting of the two provinces to organize after the Central Committee agreed to reduce the number of provincial administrative units from 63 to 34. The province's administrative center after consolidating in Quang Ngai.
Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van - Secretary of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee and Mr. Duong Van Trang - Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee chaired the conference.

At the Conference, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van said that when there was a policy of merging Kon Tum province with Quang Ngai province, public opinion among officials, party members and people of Quang Ngai province was very excited. The Standing Committee of Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee will fully absorb the comments of the Secretary of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee and the leaders of Kon Tum Province at the meeting to soon complete the project, ensure the requirements of quality and progress in accordance with the Central regulations.
At the meeting, the two provinces basically agreed on the first draft project of merging Kon Tum and Quang Ngai province; Agree on the plan to coordinate the implementation of tasks related to the consolidation of the two provinces. At the same time, unifying the schedule and place of meeting to solve the work between the two Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee from now until January 1, 2025, with a frequency of 3 weeks/time and may be unexpected when needed.
Currently, Kon Tum province has more than 1,800 cadres and civil servants in the provincial political system. There are 92 offices with a total area of over 1.8 million m². After rearranging the apparatus, transferring officials to the commune, settling the regime and streamlining, Kon Tum will have about 1,500 cadres and civil servants imported to Quang Ngai province to continue their work.
Mr. Duong Van Trang suggested that, after consolidating and having a new apparatus, Quang Ngai province needs to study so that the apparatus will come into operation quickly and effectively after January 1, 2025. At the same time, he proposed Quang Ngai province to study the placement of a permanent part in Kon Tum City to serve officials and leaders working in the border area. It is necessary to care and create favorable conditions for accommodation and travel for the staff of Kon Tum province when moving to Quang Ngai City to work, so that they can be assured of their work.
Completing the merger project of Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces before 1.5.2025
Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van said that implementing the Central Committee's direction on the merger of the provincial administrative unit, Quang Ngai province has actively prepared the contents, draft projects and plans to consolidate the two provinces. According to the central roadmap, before 1.5.2025, the project of merging and consolidating the Kon Tum and Quang Ngai province must report to the Central Committee to submit to the competent authority for approval.

Currently, Quang Ngai province has drafted a project to merge from the perspective of government agencies and basically completed the plan of arranging public houses and transportation to serve Kon Tum officials and public servants after the merger. The province has also actively reviewed and repaired working offices and public houses to arrange accommodation for Kon Tum officials and public servants in need.
Quang Ngai province agreed to co -delivered the Chairman of Quang Ngai People's Committee in coordination with Kon Tum province and relevant agencies to complete the project, submit to the Standing Committee of the two provinces to discuss and unify. After completing the project, it will continue to perform the tasks related to the organizational structure, payroll and problems arising.
