On the afternoon of June 26, at the Government Headquarters, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau received Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau highly appreciated Mr. Takebe's contributions and enthusiasm in promoting Vietnam-Japan friendly cooperation relations over the past 30 years, especially in the fields of people-to-people exchanges, local cooperation, and educational cooperation, human resource development, of which the Vietnam-Japan University Project is typical.
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister requested Mr. Takebe to continue to pay attention to and promote the agencies of the two sides to strengthen cooperation in the field of education and training, and develop high-quality human resources in areas where Japan has strengths and Vietnam has potential such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, semiconductors, and AI.
The Vietnam-Japan University project is a symbolic project for human resource training cooperation between the two countries being implemented right in Vietnam. Emphasizing the factors of efficiency, transparency, and project progress in accordance with Vietnamese law, the Deputy Prime Minister requested Mr. Takebe to speak out to the Japanese side in accelerating the negotiation process to sign the Intergovernmental Agreement on the development of Vietnam-Japan Universities in 2026.
Along with that is coordinating the approval of loans and related procedures to promptly start construction in the first quarter of 2027; connecting Japanese businesses to cooperate with the school to create output for students; expanding the scope and number of high-quality human resource training courses.
The Deputy Prime Minister wished Mr. Takebe to continue to pay attention to and further promote local cooperation between the two countries; economic, cultural, tourism and people-to-people exchanges; have a voice with Japanese ministries, branches, and localities to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese workers, students, and citizens to live, study and work in Japan.
Responding to the Deputy Prime Minister's exchanges, Mr. Takebe said that when returning to Vietnam this time, he clearly felt the dynamism and decisiveness of the new leadership apparatus. Especially under the leadership of General Secretary and President To Lam, the entire government system is showing a very strong renovation atmosphere.
Completely agreeing with the proposals and close assessments of Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, Mr. Takebe affirmed that he will continue to contribute his heart and mind in cooperation between the two countries in human resource training, developing a semiconductor ecosystem, improving legal education, supporting the Vietnamese community to integrate well in Japan; actively coordinate to solve problems with mechanisms for the Vietnam-Japan University project and prepare for major cooperation events in the period 2025-2026.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau invited Mr. Takebe and leaders of Hokkaido Prefecture to attend the 2nd Vietnam - Japan Local Cooperation Forum in Hue City in early September 2026.
