On the morning of November 26, Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Judicial Committee Le Thi Nga presented a report on the verification of the Government's report on anti-corruption work in 2024.
In 2024, the Government, ministries, branches and localities will continue to promote and improve the quality and effectiveness of propaganda, dissemination and education of laws on anti-corruption, focusing on educating revolutionary ethics, building a culture of integrity, anti-corruption and negativity among cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and people.
However, the work of propaganda, education and dissemination of laws on PCTNTC is still limited. A significant number of cadres, party members, civil servants and public employees still show signs of degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation" leading to corruption, negativity, and being criminally prosecuted.
In 2024, many anti-corruption measures will continue to be promoted by the Government, ministries, branches and localities, such as: implementing publicity and transparency in operations; norms, standards, regimes, codes of conduct; changing job positions to prevent corruption; controlling assets and income of people with positions and powers.
Focus on inspecting and examining the implementation of corruption prevention measures and handling the responsibility of leaders for allowing corruption to occur.
However, the Judicial Committee found that violations of the implementation of publicity and transparency in organization and operation, violations of the implementation of the code of conduct, implementation of norms, standards and regimes still occur in many agencies, organizations and units.
The results of implementing job transfer to prevent corruption in some localities are still low.
Control of assets and income of people with positions and powers is still limited; there are many cases where, after investigation, large amounts of undeclared assets of unknown origin are discovered.
The situation of harassment and inconvenience to people and businesses has not been completely resolved; the situation of avoiding and shirking responsibility in performing public duties still occurs.
According to Director Le Thi Nga, there are also cases where inspectors abuse their positions and powers to violate official duties, do not properly follow inspection procedures and conclusions..., causing serious consequences, and will be subject to criminal prosecution.
Also according to the Judiciary Committee, in 2024, the work of detecting and handling corruption will continue to be promoted; handling thoroughly and strictly backlogged, prolonged cases or newly arising cases, related to many ministries, branches and localities, including many large and complicated corruption cases of special concern to public opinion.
However, the work of detecting and handling corruption is still limited. The work of self-inspection and self-detection of corruption has not changed. Assets to be recovered in criminal cases of corruption and economic crimes are still in large backlog.
The situation of officials and civil servants in prosecution agencies and civil judgment enforcement agencies violating regulations on PCTNTC and being criminally prosecuted still occurs frequently.
The recent corruption and negative violations show that there is lax management and lack of responsibility of many groups and individuals, especially leaders in state management in a number of fields.
