Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh was born in 1967, from An Thuong commune, Hoai Duc district, Hanoi city; has a high level of political theory; professional qualification: University of Command and Staff of the Combined Services, Senior in Military.
Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh has held the following positions: Commander of the Capital Command; Commander of Military Region 4.
On January 30, 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee, term 2021-2026.
From November 2022, he holds the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.
On October 20, General Secretary and President To Lam presented the decision to promote Mr. Nguyen Doan Anh from Lieutenant General to Senior Lieutenant General.
On the afternoon of October 25, 2025, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee held a conference to announce the Politburo's decision on personnel work. At the conference, the Central Organizing Committee announced the Politburo's decision to assign Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Doan Anh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Previously, the 20th Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress elected an Executive Committee of 69 people, of which 15 were elected to the Standing Committee.
