Thanh Hoa - Standing Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.

On March 27, the 19th Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, term 2026-2031, held its first meeting to consider and decide on some important contents and elect key leadership positions of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee.

At the meeting, delegates elected leadership positions of the 19th Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council. With 100% of the votes in favor, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong - Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee - was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.

Mr. Le Tien Lam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council and Mr. Nguyen Quang Hai - Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the 18th Provincial People's Council - continued to be elected to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the 19th Provincial People's Council.

The meeting also proceeded to elect members of the Committee, Heads of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities Affairs and heads of departments of the Provincial People's Council for the 2026-2031 term.

For the heads of departments of the 18th Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026, including: Head of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee Luong Tien Thanh; Head of the Economic - Budget Committee Hoang Anh Tuan; Head of the Legal Affairs Committee of the People's Council Nguyen Quoc Hai; Head of the Culture - Society Committee of the People's Council Ngo Thi Hong Hao were re-elected.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong was born in 1979; native of Phu Tho province; holds a Doctorate in Law. Before being transferred and assigned by the Politburo and the Secretariat to hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, he held the positions of: Director of Ha Tinh Provincial Police; Director of Dong Nai Provincial Police.

In January 2025, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong assumed the position of Member of the Party Committee of the Central Public Security, Director of the Internal Security Department, Ministry of Public Security.

In July 2025, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong was promoted to the rank of Major General of the People's Police.

On September 17, 2025, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong was transferred, assigned, and appointed to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and hold the position of Standing Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee.

At the 20th Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030 held in mid-October 2025, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phong was re-elected as Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the term 2025-2030.
