On August 8, the Vinh Chau Ward Party Committee, Can Tho City held the 1st Party Congress, term 2025 - 2030.
The Congress announced the Decision of the Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee on appointing the Executive Committee of the Vinh Chau Ward Party Committee, term I, 2025 - 2030, consisting of 33 comrades; the Standing Committee of 11 comrades; the Inspection Committee of 3 comrades. At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Ward Party Committee, 2 Deputy Secretaries, Mr. Tran Trong Khiem and Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa Binh.
Vinh Chau ward was formed from the merger of wards 1, 2 and Lac Hoa commune (formerly Vinh Chau town, Soc Trang province). In the 2020-2025 term, the local economy will grow quite well, the structure will shift positively; the average production value will reach 273 million VND/ha; budget revenue will reach 226.2% of the target. Infrastructure has been upgraded, people's lives have improved, the poverty rate has decreased to 1.23%. The work of Party building, consolidating the political system, ensuring national defense and security has achieved many outstanding results.
Vinh Chau is also a coastal locality with great potential in developing the aquaculture and seafood exploitation industry. In particular, the sandy soil is an ideal condition for people here to develop vegetable growing, most notably purple onions. Vinh Chau purple onions have been certified as geographical indications and have become one of the main products of the locality. With an average output of about 59,567 tons per year.
