On August 20, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh and the National Assembly working delegation inspected the site of the Long Thanh International Airport Project (abbreviated as Long Thanh Airport).
Reporting to the National Assembly's working delegation, Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said: Currently, all packages of the project are being constructed simultaneously on the entire construction site in accordance with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to storms", "3 shifts, 4 teams", constructing "over holidays, through Tet, through holidays".
In the packages, the consortium of contractors mobilized hundreds of construction teams with nearly 14,000 experts, engineers, workers, laborers and about 3,000 construction equipment to speed up the progress with the goal of basically completing the project before December 19, 2025, putting it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026 as requested by the Prime Minister.
Up to now, the value of the entire project's implementation volume has reached more than 52.5% of the contract value, the overall progress is closely following the plan.
In particular, many important packages are committed to shortening the progress by 3-6 months compared to the original contract, demonstrating the high determination of investors and contractors.
Faced with the weather challenge when this year's rainy season comes early and continues, directly affecting underground items such as tunnels, drainage systems, and roadbeds, ACV has proactively adjusted construction measures, increased human resources and machinery, and took advantage of the sunny days to make up for the delayed progress.
For the passenger terminal project, more than 95% of the rough construction volume has been completed. The central steel roof has reached the completion height since April 2025. The roofing system, lighting roof, glass walls, EUC (electricity, water, air conditioning) are being deployed simultaneously. The goal is to complete the construction and architecture before December 19, 2025 for technical flight, hand over the site for equipment installation from the end of 2025.
Regarding the construction of runway and runway No. 2, ACV representative said that the project will start construction at the end of May 2025 and is expected to be basically completed in sync with the entire project. Currently, at the construction site, the contractor consortium is simultaneously implementing many construction teams for the foundation, foundation, and drainage system.
Speaking at the project site, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh suggested that investors and contractors need to make more efforts to speed up the progress of the items, while ensuring the quality of the project.
Also at the inspection of the project site, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh presented gifts and encouraged the investor and contractors for the Long Thanh Airport project.
