On September 15, information from Dien Bien Provincial Police, on September 14 in Luang Prabang (Laos), the police of the two provinces held the 2026 Annual Meeting, assessing the results of coordination in ensuring security, order and combating cross-border crime.
From the beginning of 2026 to now, through official letters, hotlines and the Border Liaison Office (BLO), the police of the two provinces have exchanged about 150 valuable information sessions, serving the work of grasping the situation, verifying and handling related cases.
Dien Bien Provincial Police also sent 35 delegations with 294 turns of leaders, officers, and soldiers to coordinate with the Police of Northern Laos provinces in ensuring security, order and crime prevention.
Notably, in the fight against drug crime, the two sides coordinated to detect 105 cases, arrested 141 subjects, seized more than 25kg of heroin, more than 1 million synthetic drug pills, 4.15kg of methamphetamine, 19kg of opium resin and many other exhibits.
In Luang Prabang, functional forces from both sides reviewed 25 villages, 5 key village clusters on drugs, identifying 107 suspicious subjects. The two sides also coordinated to verify and successfully arrested 4 particularly dangerous wanted subjects hiding in Laos.
At the talks, the police of the two provinces agreed to continue to strengthen information exchange, coordinate verification, investigation, and pursuit of subjects, focusing on fighting drug crimes and cross-border crimes.
