On April 14, within the framework of the State visit to China with General Secretary and President To Lam, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly visited Tong Khanh Linh Center for Scientific and Cultural Exchange of Youth in Beijing (China), VOV reported.
This is one of the 4 centers belonging to the Tong Khanh Linh Fund, a social organization and charity organization named after Mrs. Tong Khanh Linh (1893 - 1981) - wife of Mr. Ton Trung Son.
At the center, the wife of General Secretary and President To Lam was introduced to the Tong Khanh Linh Fund and the activities of the Youth Cultural Science Exchange Center; visited the Montessori Space; Quintessence Space and classes on Peking Opera, paper making, ceramics, and handicrafts.
At the class on traditional medicine, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly experienced making fragrant bags by personally selecting 6 types of herbs and grinding them into small pieces, putting them in bags.
Expressing her impression of the open, modern space - where teenagers can access science, technology, art and creative activities in a lively and close way, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly said that this is clear evidence of an progressive educational philosophy: learning goes hand in hand with practice, learning through experience, and learning to develop comprehensively.
The wife was particularly touched to witness the concern and dedicated care that the teachers and educators at the center gave to the children.
Expressing her impression of Ms. Tong Khanh Linh's views on child care and education, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly shared that a successful education system not only creates people with good expertise, but also must create responsible citizens with compassion and aspirations to contribute to society.
In Vietnam, the First Lady shared that President Ho Chi Minh - a great leader, national hero, world cultural figure - once advised: "Children are like buds on branches, knowing how to eat, knowing how to sleep, knowing how to study is good".
Those simple but profound teachings are still always the guiding principle in the work of caring for and educating children in Vietnam, about always putting children at the center of development policies, with the goal of ensuring that all children are cared for, educated and grow up in the best conditions.
The wife expressed her desire that the work of caring for and educating children today needs to carry new responsibilities, especially important is to arouse creative thinking and solve problems for children; foster compassion, help children understand compassion, sharing and responsibility to the community.
Besides, it is also necessary to promote cultural exchange, because in an integrated world like today, understanding and respecting cultural differences is the key to building a peaceful and stable community.
Also at the center, the center's students performed the performance "Moc Que Anh Quai Soai" to welcome Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly. The Vietnamese children's team participating in the Red Journey in Beijing also participated in a performance.
Wife Ngo Phuong Ly deeply believes that the seeds of friendship sown on April 14 in the hearts of the children will grow up, continue to become sustainable bridges, friendship between the two nations.
