In less than 20 hours, military units deployed forces to Myanmar to provide relief and overcome the consequences of the earthquake.

This afternoon (March 30), the Ministry of National Defense held a conference to assign tasks to forces participating in overcoming the consequences of earthquakes in Myanmar.

Speaking at the conference, General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), Deputy Minister of National Defense - said that the Ministry of National Defense sent a working delegation of 80 comrades, necessary equipment, materials, medicine, 6 service dogs and many tons of goods to support overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.

The working group of the Vietnam People's Army participating in rescue and relief support in Myanmar includes 80 soldiers selected by agencies and units, which are the core force of the International Humanitarian Support and Disaster Relief Teams of the Ministry of National Defense.

Including officers and soldiers from: Engineering Corps, Military Hospitals, Border Guard, Rescue - Relief Department and functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense, General Staff, General Department of Politics.

Among them, many officers and soldiers participated in supporting the Turkish government and people to overcome the earthquake disaster in 2023.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong said that in a short time (less than 20 hours), since being deployed and assigned tasks, agencies and units have thoroughly grasped and fully and thoughtfully implemented all preparations to each person and each force member, both in terms of ideology, spirit, force, organization, equipment, logistics and closely coordinated and collaborated with each other.

"That shows a high proactive spirit, a spirit of readiness to carry out tasks immediately under all conditions and circumstances... Up to now, comrades have been ready in all aspects to set out to carry out tasks in your country" - General Nguyen Tan Cuong emphasized.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army noted that the comrades in the working group must seriously grasp the tasks, build the highest determination, the highest sense of responsibility, solidarity, unity, proactively overcome all difficulties, and excellently complete the tasks that the Party, State, and Army trust and assign.

Efforts to carry out rescue and humanitarian assistance tasks with existing equipment and experience have been drawn, promoting dynamism and creativity in the fastest, most effective and safest time.

During the process of performing tasks, we must always be ready to help the people of your country according to the ability and conditions allowed, without causing trouble to the government and people of your country.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong also noted that it is necessary to resolve the relationship and close coordination between our forces and international forces, authorities and people of the host country in performing their duties; strictly comply with international law, the laws of the host country and military discipline, ensuring absolute safety for people and equipment.

Along with that, promoting the tradition and good qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", combined with propaganda through specific actions to enhance the image and position of the Vietnam People's Army, creating a good impression on international friends and the Myanmar government and people.
